How much will I need to change before I’m able to love myself?
I used to think to myself, “How much will I need to change before I’m able to love myself?”
When I hit a certain number on a scale.
When I fit into that piece of clothing I bought.
When I look the way I did when I was in high school.
When I exercise every day to prove to myself I am motivated.
When I’m eating a certain way to prove to myself I am disciplined.
When I feel less out of control around food so I can say I am in control.
I eventually realized the proper question is, “How much will I need to love myself before I’m able to change?”
The answer is a little bit to start… and then a little bit more.
The change wasn’t what I thought it was either. I thought the change that needed to happen was physical, when it wasn’t at all, it was all mental.
I CAN be motivated to move mountains without working out every day.
I CAN be disciplined without having a structured eating routine.
I CAN be beautiful without being a certain number on the scale.
I CAN be loved without looking the way I did in high school.
I CAN be accomplished even if I gain weight.
I CAN be strong even if I can’t lift super heavy.
I CAN be a great girlfriend.
I CAN be a great friend.
I CAN be a role model.
I CAN be anything that I want to be.
I just need to love myself enough to believe I can.
What are you holding yourself back from doing or believing in, all because you think you can only do it or believe in it when you hit a certain number on the scale, finish a certain amount of workouts, fit into a certain article of clothing, etc.? Are there other ways you can prove to yourself you are already everything that you need? I’m going to help you out here, yes, there are other ways.
