FAIL, often.
Don’t be afraid of messing up at first.
Don’t be afraid of “embarrassing” yourself.
Don’t be upset if you have to modify something.
It’s okay to feel like a beginner sometimes.
Why?
Because messing up IS A PART OF GROWTH.
If you never mess up, it means you’ve never stepped out of your comfort zone.
If you never mess up, it means you’ve never pushed yourself to find your limit.
I hear clients all the time say they think they’re failures because they can’t do something I can. They get embarrassed that they can’t complete an exercise. They feel weak because they can’t hold something for as long or they have to go down in weight. They’re frustrated because they have to stop mid workout. They’re annoyed at themselves for not doing what they think they should be able to do.
To which I say.. You should be PROUD. To have to stop. To have to go down in weight. To have to modify. That means you’ve pushed yourself to the edge. That means you tried really hard. You challenged yourself and found your current limit - and that’s hard to do. Just because it’s your current limit, doesn’t mean it’s going to be that forever. We workout to get stronger, to push our limits sometimes, to experience what it’s like to not be able to do something and work you way up to it one day. It’s a practice.
We need to stop making “messing up” a bad thing.
We need to take the shame out of doing things wrong.
We need to learn that there is no F.A.I.L., just a First Attempt In Learning (or second, third, etc.)
Failure is FEEDBACK.
Whoever you look up to has done it wrong several, several times.
YOU are going to do it wrong, several, several times.
It’s okay.
Get up.
Brush yourself off.
Be proud that you tried.
Figure out the lesson that needs to be learned.
Try again and again.
What are YOU going to fail at today?
