The Photos That Broke the Internet.
Stop glorifying weight loss like it’s the most impressive thing a human can do.
Two extraordinary women that have been doing extraordinary things. Both are super talented and have successful careers doing what they love.
Yet, these photos surfaced and all anyone could do was comment on their weight. Figure out HOW they did it, WHY they did it.
Whether it was for “health” reasons or societal pressure in a rather non-forgiving industry, a recent break up, an illness, trying to get a certain movie role - their how and why doesn’t matter.
Do you know why?
Because their HOW or WHY has nothing to do with you.
In fact, their BODY has nothing to do with you. How they did it will look different. How long it took them will be different. Why they did it will be different.
Do not fall into the trap of comparing yourself to women who have lost weight. Their weight loss has nothing to do with their value as individuals.
Let’s take a step back, continue to recognize these women for their talents and how they make us laugh and cry and feel - things that have not changed because they lost weight.
If anyone has been triggered by these photos and commentary in the media, I’m with you and I’m sorry.
We, as a society, need to do better by one another and by the celebrities we hold on pedestals to really value people regardless of their size.
