Important Life Lessons from a Puzzle That Changed My Life

15 hrs in 32 days taught me this:

  • Somedays you’ll only get one piece and feel upset about it.

  • Somedays you’ll get a lot of pieces and feel great about it.

  • Sometimes the block of pieces don’t connect to the rest of the puzzle right away.

  • Sometimes the pieces just click and fit perfectly.

  • Sometimes you think the pieces fit, but you realize later they don’t and you have to start over.

  • You can do it alone, and it’ll get done, but it’ll get done faster if you have a good partner.

  • Tantrums aren’t cute.

  • Find yourself a very patient partner who will love you even when you’re throwing a tantrum.

  • Don’t stress out about stupid shit, like making a puzzle... it’s not worth it.

  • You can have fun and get shit done at the same time.

Most importantly, that it’s NOT about the destination it’s about the journey. It’s about the laughs, the memories, the bonds you make, the lessons you learn. When you focus too much on the end goal, you lose ALL the great stuff in the middle and immediately think, “Ok, what next?” There’s always a next. There’s always another puzzle, another activity.

At the end of the day, this puzzle goes back in the box, but I get to always have the memories and lessons.

So here’s MY PLEA TO YOU: Don’t let your goals get in the way of living your current life. Don’t wait for the scale to go down. Don’t wait for that pair of jeans to fit again to feel confident and do the things that make you happy. You DON’T HAVE TO WAIT.

I thought I had to wait. Wait until I had a visible abs. Wait until I lost those last 5-10 lbs. Wait until I could squeeze into that bikini. Wait to for all these things to happen in order to feel confident and live my life to the fullest. I thought that by having those things, I would “POOF” be confidence and happy and get everything that I wanted in life.

TRUST ME, from someone that’s been there. From someone who’s hit those goals. From someone that sacrificed a lot of time, physical health and mental sanity to then be focused on the next thing. From someone that looked for confidence and happiness and self-trust in all the wrong places (weight scale, clothes, approval, compliments, partners, etc.). From someone who then lost it all. You don’t have to wait. Life doesn’t wait. You are losing TIME and MEMORIES by chasing these things down.

Choose now.

Choose you.

Choose love.

Choose joy.

You can have all these things, right now.
