Trainer Tip: Get Out of Your Head

Today’s Trainer Tip is less physical and more mental.

It’s about…

  • Getting out of your head and into your body.

  • Learning to THINK less and FEEL more.

  • Letting the judgment go.

  • Shifting away from the THINKING self and focus on the FEELING self.

How do I do that?

How can I make exercise fun?

How can I not be so hard on myself?

Here’s how:

  • Play music that aligns with your emotions in that moment.

  • Find movement forms that make you FEEL good. The options are endless: lifting weights, yoga, zumba, dance, animal flow, HIIT, running, walking, etc. They all “work” if you stay CONSISTENT. How do you stay consistent? By finding things you ENJOY doing and doing them OFTEN because you LIKE to. Mind. Blown.

  • We’re hard on ourselves when we have high expectations (the thinking self). Let those go. Can’t let those go? It’s probably because your workouts are focused on the destination (i.e. an aesthetic goal) vs. the journey. NEWS ALERT: Exercise will ALWAYS be a journey. Even if you reach your “destination,” you will a) need to continue to exercise to keep it up and b) then want more. Focus instead on having fun and enjoying the journey and you’ll be less hard on yourself, promise.

  • Don’t focus on perfection. Movement can be really simple and enjoyable if you focus on just doing what’s best for you in that moment.).

The body WANTS to move, you just need to learn to listen.

If you’re looking for a safe space where you can learn how to let go of dieting for good, enjoy food without guilt, and turn exercise into something you love to do rather than something you “have” to do, submit a client application to get in contact with me! I work with clients virtually all over the world helping those who are frustrated with dieting and want to change their relationship with food and themselves.
