Focus on the Controllable(s) for Success
There are things we can control and things we can't control.
Instead of making a HUGE list of the things you can't control, I'm going to highlight the three things you can control: A.C.E.
A - Attitude
C - Commitment
E - Effort
Let me show you how this relates to working out:
No one likes an attitude, not even you. If you start to talk negatively to yourself about how you're doing (for example), the workout is going to be much more difficult than it needs to be. Your mental state will impact your workout. Let it go. Let it be. Be present and have a good attitude.
The only way things get done, is with commitment. If this workout is important to you. If it's important to your goals and to who you want to be as a person, only you can make yourself show up. You can't control the obstacles that might get in the way (aka a work call getting scheduled during your workout time) but you can control your commitment to finding another time that works (for example).
The amount of effort you put into your workout, is only controlled by YOU. It's okay if some days you feel like you can't put in as much effort as others. You can't always control your energy level that day (for example), but you can decide you'll give as much effort as you can in that moment. Every effort, is enough.
So, before your next workout...
Decide you'll have good attitude and not berate yourself.
Commit to showing up for yourself.
Put in any effort that you have.
