Curate Your Social Media “Reality”

Curating your own social media “reality.”

I talk about this a lot on my Instagram (which I am currently taking a break from which has been UH-MAZING)

Especially now that we don’t get outside much and see how much beautiful diversity there is around us, it is even more critically important we curate our own social feeds to be REALISTIC. Especially if you’re intrenched in realms like fitness and nutrition. Even if you’re not, be mindful as you scroll of what you’re exposing yourself to and what your mind is getting used to seeing: thin white girl in a crop top, thin white girl in tight fitting clothes, oh look, another thin, maybe slightly ethnic looking, white girl… Your social feed will trick you into believing this is what most people look like - IT IS NOT.

DIVERSIFY YOUR ACCOUNTS.

Follow people of all shapes, sizes, colors, ethnicities, etc.

Follow accounts that talk and open your mind to different things.

That’s what our wonderful world is made of - diversity.

Follow people who aren’t afraid to show their vulnerabilities and “imperfections.”

Take a moment. Does it make you uncomfortable seeing some of these accounts?

If the answer is yes, get curious, ask yourself why.

If it makes you physically and/or mentally UNCOMFORTABLE to see someone on your feed that is a certain size, has a certain disability, looks a certain way, etc., ask yourself what thought or belief you have about that person and see if that answer sits well with you. I’m going to assume here that it won’t sit well with you. No need to judge yourself though, just notice what comes up and ask yourself if that’s something you want to change.

Here are just a few of my favorite accounts in the nutrition / fitness realm.

Note: Careful of the verbiage people use as well. For example, I do NOT follow fitness accounts anymore that use phrases like: quick six pack abs, lose weight in 6 weeks, lose stubborn belly fat, hourglass sculpt, etc. I also really despise fitness influencers that use their abs or ass in every single video thumbnail (won’t name names because I don't want to give them any sort of press) < I’m going to have to do a WHOLE separate post about my feelings there.

If you’re looking for a safe space where you can learn how to let go of dieting for good, enjoy food without guilt, and turn exercise into something you love to do rather than something you “have” to do, submit a client application to get in contact with me! I work with clients virtually all over the world helping those who are frustrated with dieting and want to change their relationship with food and themselves.

Hi, I’m Azul Corajoria, an Integrative Health Coach, Personal Trainer & Yoga Instructor. I support my clients in making step-by-step changes so that they can live a healthy and balanced life. By recognizing the interdependent roles of mindset, nutrition, and movement I educate and hold my clients accountable for achieving their health goals through lifestyle and behavior adjustments with an emphasis on self-care. Together, we navigate the contradictory world of nutrition through intuitive eating, practice mindful movement, and implement small mindset and lifestyle shifts that empower them to be their best selves in the easiest way possible.
