The Benefits of Warm Food During Cold Months

Don’t feel like eating raw salads anymore?

Don’t get so down on yourself, there’s a reason for that.

In Winter and Fall months our bodies crave warmth because it’s cold outside (makes sense, right?) A great way to feed in that craving is by eating cooked foods with warming elements. Not only does it feel good, but it also stimulates circulation (bringing blood and energy [heat] to the surface of the body) and aids digestion when the body is cold.

Warming Elements to Incorporate:

  • Sautéing, Roasting, Baking, Boiling, Steaming.

  • Foods like soups, stews, roasted veggies, oatmeal.

  • Spices like cinnamon, turmeric, ginger, cayenne.

Listen to your body. Don’t just eat a salad because you think it’s healthy. Eat to nourish yourself. Eat the things your body is telling you it’s craving because it naturally knows changes of weather, it doesn’t need to think about it so much - unlike you, stop overthinking it so much over there.
