About
Breathwork
Put simply, breathwork is intentional breathing.
Sounds simple, but it’s super powerful in shifting your physical, mental, and emotional state
That’s because your breath is the only autonomic system you can consciously control, and it’s directly tied to your nervous system.
Your autonomic system runs all the stuff your body does without you needing to think about it: heartbeat, digestion, breathing, hormone release, etc.
Most of these things, you can’t control.
But your breath you can manually change—slow it down, speed it up, hold it, deepen it, etc.
Which means you can use your conscious control of the breath to influence unconscious systems—like your heart rate, your stress response, and even your mood.
This makes your breath a bridge between your mind and body.
It’s the remote control for your nervous system.
When you feel anxious, your breath changes (shallow, fast).
But if you flip that—intentionally breathe slowly—you can calm your anxiety.
That means with the breath, you can:
Reduce anxiety and stress (activates parasympathetic response)
Improve sleep and focus
Regulate emotions instead of reacting impulsively
Enhance recovery and performance in fitness
Connect with your body and stay present in the moment
That’s freaking powerful.
p.s. if you ever want to practice breathwork on your own, I love the Breathwrk app.
