Fiber: Why It’s So Important
We hear all about Protein, Fat, and Carbs, but not enough of us think about FIBER! An overlooked nutrient, here is why it’s so important to make sure you’re getting enough in your day (25-30g) which is about 4 servings of the foods listed below (super super easy to do if you’re eating mostly whole foods).
What It Does:
Helps manage blood sugar by slowing the absorption of glucose (no more bad spikes)
Helps normalize bowel movements (yay for pooping regularly)
Helps get rid of toxins in the body (natural detox)
Helps release the satiety hormone to keep you fuller for longer (less cravings)
Helps lower cholesterol (I mean, when is that not a good thing)
Where To Get It:
Beans
Split Peas
Avocado
Raspberries
Elderberries
Blackberries
Guava
Persimmon
Mango
Flax Seeds
Chia Seeds
Pinon Nuts
Whole Grains
Broccoli
Collard Greens
Artichokes
(Fiber in fruit is mostly found in the peel, so make sure to include that)
